What is your educational background? I spent all of my early years in each school in Mount Airy City Schools! I attended Rockford Street School, South Main Street School, Mount Airy Junior High, Mount Airy High School, then went on to Surry Community College (AA degree), UNC Greensboro (BS-Elementary ED), and UNCG (MEd-Elementary Education).
Where do you teach? What grade level(s) and subject area(s)? I teach 3rd-5th graders at Jones Intermediate School. I am the reading specialist.
How many years have you been in education? I have been in education for 25 years. I started teaching in 1984 and took off some years to stay home with my children.
Tell us about your family. My husband Scott and I have been married for 33 years. He is in education at Surry Community College. We have two grown children, Kyle (27) and Amy (24). Kyle lives and works in Raleigh and Amy lives and works in Boone.
What is your favorite part of the year and why? My favorite part of the year is summer because I am a warm weather person and I love the sunshine. I definitely do not like being cold.
