In addition to leading in the classroom, Robertson has served as a Problem-Based Learning trainer for Wake Forest University’s Center of Excellence for Research, Teaching, and Learning Program. Her work inside and outside of the classroom has created opportunities for her to present in other districts, for the Department of Public Instruction, and in front of the North Carolina State Board of Education.
Principal Sherry Cox affirmed Robertson’s knowledge and expertise noting, “I am very fortunate and excited for the opportunity to work with Amanda both personally and professionally. In a professional capacity, she is respected by her peers and has already proven herself as a leader and innovator in the classroom. She challenges her students, maximizes their strengths and differentiates to provide support for areas of improvement. We interviewed several exemplary candidates for our curriculum facilitator position and one thing that really made Amanda stand out was her intent to work with teachers and support them in this same capacity. On a personal level, Amanda does not shy away from conflict or hurdles. She is very driven, energetic, and positive. She holds high expectations for herself and for our school. I am confident that Amanda will lead teaching and learning at Jones Intermediate to continue our educational excellence and create a learning environment where both teachers and students are striving to improve.”
Dr. Kim Morrison states, “We are excited to name Amanda Robertson to the administrative team of Jones Intermediate School. Her work over the past four years speaks for itself as her academic achievement and work with families has been outstanding. Her work ethic and ability to grow students has prepared her well for leading other educators. Her recognition by the Milken Foundation sets her apart as a national leader. We are pleased to bring her on to our administrative team.”
“I am so excited to have this opportunity to collaborate with all of my colleagues at Jones. I look forward to being able to offer my support to help them ensure student success while also continuing to learn and grow as an educator myself,” Mrs. Robertson said.
The Mount Airy City Schools Board of Education and administration are pleased to introduce Mrs. Amanda Robertson as the new curriculum facilitator of Jones Intermediate School. She will start her new role in the beginning of August.
