"Pain medications are the single most frequent cause of pediatric fatalities reported to Poison Control...45.7% of poisoning fatalities in children younger than 6 years reported to US Poison Control from 2010 to 2014 were due to medication." Please see examples on the right.
How can we make sure our little people are not a part of these statistics? Questions to discuss with your child.
- Do some medicines and candy look alike?
- If you find something that looks like candy, is it ok to put it in your mouth?
- If a medicine tastes good, should you take more than what you parent/doctor told you was the correct amount?
- Who do you ALWAYS check with before taking ANY medicine?
As a thank you, the first 20 participants will receive a coupon to Chick-fil-A.
If you are unable to participate please remember the Mount Airy Police Department has a medication drop box in their lobby.
