Last night, the Board of Education approved for MACS to pilot a plan toward becoming a mask optional learning environment. This proposal has been reviewed by our local health department and health experts within the ABC Collaborative. Beginning on February 28th, Jones Intermediate School will be the first school to pilot mask optional regardless of student vaccination status.
The district will track secondary spread and positivity rates to guide decisions on moving to the next school. This pilot will accelerate or slow the unmasking of other schools based on data.
